Scam With Your Friends is a group game first. The store lists online co-op with your friends or public lobbies and a separate single player mode, and the whole premise, a call center floor full of scam workers competing for the same quota, assumes a room full of people.

What is confirmed
Three things come straight from the store listing, and they answer most of the question:
- Online co-op with your friends, in a private group.
- Public lobbies, for playing with strangers.
- Single player, for running the floor alone.
The developer's own trailer title makes the same promise in four words: run a scam call center with your friends.
What is not announced
- The lobby size. No player cap has been published anywhere. Community clips show rooms with several named players at once, and one developer answer to "how many people can play" was the non-committal "quite a lot", which is not a number and should not be treated as one.
- Party systems and matchmaking details. How lobbies are joined, whether there is voice chat built in, and how the lobby shares earnings are all undocumented so far. The store content descriptor does list in-game chat and online interaction, which confirms chat exists in some form.
- Crossplay and cross-save. There is currently nothing to be cross-compatible with: the game is Windows-only on Steam. If more platforms are announced, this section is where the answer changes.
What multiplayer looks like in practice
Playtest recordings show the shape of a session: several players at desks on the same floor, each on their own calls, a shared earnings pool climbing toward the quota, and hazards that hit the whole office at once rather than one desk. The end-of-day performance review ranks the lobby against each other, which is where most of the comedy in group sessions comes from.
Playing alone
Single player is a listed mode, not a bolt-on. The quota and the hazards still apply, which makes solo runs a different kind of challenge: there is nobody to cover your desk when a police raid lands. If you are deciding whether to buy at Early Access, the honest framing is that the game is designed around a group, and solo is the mode for when the group is offline.
